The inspiration behind TP 2000's design was the desire to improve the lives of those who use welding tools regularly. PQ Design Studio focused on the product's portability, safety, and comfort, designing it exclusively with the consumer's needs in mind. The design process involved putting themselves in the shoes of the users and identifying key issues to be tackled in terms of design: identity, quality, safety, and comfort.
TP 2000 stands out for its high level of portability and comfort. The ergonomic handle and special electrical cable winding system allow the operator to carry the product efficiently and safely. The product also features a double ventilation system, front and lateral, which increases performance due to the high circulation of air internally. It also comes with a well-integrated belt, adding to the product's design and functionality.
The product's casing, entirely made of plastic, was realized through injection molding using Nylon. This choice allowed the designers to obtain a shape and layout that maximizes the reduction of internal wasted spaces, thus leaving ample freedom for usage. The product's case is composed of a single material which optimizes production costs, is easily recyclable, and reduces assembly time.
The project started in May 2013 in Shanghai and finished in March 2014. It was exhibited in different fairs around the world. The design research involved studying a formal solution that enables the winding of the electrical cord, greatly improving the overall portability of the product. This was one of the design challenges that were successfully overcome, along with giving the product a strong identity and distinguishing it from competitors.
TP 2000 is a professional welding machine that has won the Silver A' Hardware, Power and Hand Tools Design Award in 2016. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The TP 2000, with its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
